Thumbs up, but not a High Five..

(Sigh) maybe its me. I like to waited on. So when we entered Sams on a Sunday Evening, we came face to face with the entire staff of Sam's staring at us in the face Just a wee bit intimidating as you navigate through the menu as they stare silently at you. Finally I gave up. I ordered a Cheese Calzone, and A house salad. My husband, had a few questions about the Chicken Picccata ~ does it come with "Angel hair Pasta?" The said No. Seriously, No? Give the customer Angel Hair Pasta.... It was Served with Spaghetti with Marinara sauce as a side dish. O.k. Lesson Learned. We will know better next time. So on to the rest of the dinner. We had ordered Mozzarella Sticks that seemed to be fresh and hand made. They were delicious and served promptly. A light crspy crust with warm gooey mozzarella. Our salad arrived ALMOST at the same time as the Appetizer along with a basket of bread and butter. The Salad and homemade dressing was fresh and offered a variety of anitpasta vegetables. The bread - oh my word.. what a treat! A great variety of garlic bread rolls and focaccia, YUM!! When I ordered my Calzone, I watch them pull the pre-made Calzone from the counter display and thrust it into the oven. So why was my Calzone Stone cold on the inside? and to make it even more of a disaster tasteless.
So, back to the counter to order our dessert to take home. The Display was spellbinding. Cakes, Tarts, Cannelloni. We ordered The Italian Creme Cake and Tiramisu. The Cake had been frozen too long and the icing had a gritty sugar taste as well as the cake itself was dry and had a slight freezer taste. The Tiramisu, watery and tasteless.
All in all, not the worst expereince. Good for young families and sports team celebration, but I think we will keep looking for that "perfect Pizza Pasta Place."

Yummy, yummy, yummy!

It's been a long while since we visited Sam's. It's our loss because the food is always excellent, the service fast and friendly, and the atmosphere comfortably down-home. My favorite is the baked ziti with meat sauce, which is absolutely wonderful: perfectly cooked pasta, just the right amount of tender beef, thick sauce, and gooey with cheese. My husband often orders the pizza, and they always get it just right for him. The portions are generous; we both bring home leftovers for a second meal, sometimes we even manage to get two more meals from the portions we carry home. Sam's really can't be beat for a great, low-key, relaxing Italian meal. Try it. You surely will not be disappointed.

Hooked

I grew up in Chicago, visit New York a bunch and when I'm a bit homesick you'll find me at Sam's. The food, the staff, the "vibe"... It's authentic. They're authentic. It's the real deal throughout. Oh, and I love the food. Their lunch specials simply can't be beat. Go. Bring the kids. Make some memories while enjoying real food.

Wonderful Mom an' Pop Italian
by shenova
on June 2, 2011
Sam's is solid, traditional southern Italian food by-way-of-New York in a mom an' pop setting. The pizza is darn good as are their entrees and salads. Sam's has a warm, family atmosphere.

There is nothing non-traditional or creative here but the food is consistently good. The desserts are flown in from NY and are good but not great (Costco's carrot cake is better than theirs).

If you are looking for a great place to sit down, relax and have some great Italian food then Sam's is the place for you. Great atmosphere and the employees are very friendly.
