Businesses open and close all the time but when it's one of your favorites . . . it's hard to say good-bye. In the last few months we've learned of several restaurant closings in Cedar Hill: Longhorn Bar B Q (124 N. Hwy 67) has closed. Also shut down are Sheridan's Frozen Custard (on FM 1382 at Uptown Blvd.), Pizza Inn (on Clark Rd. near Beltline -- in the old Minyard's Shopping Center) and Randy's Dog Pound in Uptown Village. (Still hoping the latter may re-surface.) And though it's outside the boundaries of Cedar Hill, the Red, Hot & Blue along Highway 67 in Duncanville will still be missed. If you hear about any others, send me an email and I will do my best to track down the information Additionally, Snocones-on-the-Square closed for the season and may be re-opening next spring in Midlothian. We'll also try to keep you updated on that. It's a tough time for the restaurant industry. Support your "mom & pop" businesses. Always remember that unlike chain restaurants, local family-owned eateries aren't normally open 24-7. Some, especially in old downtown, keep irregular hours and are often closed on Mondays AND/OR Sundays. It's always best to call ahead first or make a note of their hours the next time you drive by.
