Lil' Piece of New Orleans in Cedar Hill
by cweakin

My wife and I were at E'clair Bistro (again) last Friday. We started our meal with a fried oyster appetizer that had a mayo condiment topped with cavier that was delicious. I ordered the beef medallions, veggie kabobs, and asparagas, that came nestled in a good portion of Jambalaya. My wife had the seafood souffle and hearts of palm salad. We shared the adult strawberry shortcake for desert. We brought a nice bottle of red wine to accompany the meal and set the mood, which, by the way, is always perfect at the Bistro. The waitresses are friendly and efficient every visit. Couldn't ask for a better meal.

Diamond in the Rough

I was treated to dinner at Eclair Bistro for my birthday. The servers were very attentive and efficient. The star of my dinner was the crab cakes. I had the poached pear salad, too. My only complaint about the salad was the lettuce was going bad; not all the leaves just the purple ones. I pointed it out to my server and was promptly asked if I'd like a new one. For dessert, I had the dessert trio that consisted of a mini lemon tart, carrot cake and a mini chocolate eclair... Yum!!! I'm so glad to have this type of restaurant in my backyard. I'd much rather patronize local businesses.

Culinary Gem

My taste buds were dancing yet again tonight at Eclair Bistro. Warm and relaxing, the dining room makes you feel like you're "out of town". It's a great escape. But it will be the food that keeps you coming back...

I wish I could post photos of the food here. You'll have to come to my FaceBook page for that! There was hit after hit tonight. May I strongly recommend the shrimp remoulade? I believe it is the best chilled shrimp of any kind that I've ever had. HIGH quality shrimp and the perfect blend of spices. The escargot was terrific as well but the shrimp was the star of the evening.

The twin filets and veggie kabobs? As perfectly cooked as I've ever had a filet. Good crust, just the right amount of S&P and tender throughout. The asparagus was seasoned and cooked incredibly. A slight "snap" with each bite, and a good tang to the palette.

For dessert, their homemade eclairs were (again) the best I've ever had. The chocolate on top was extra firm while the chocolate inside was mousse-like. Perfect texture and sweetness.

You could make the mistake of calling the Eclair Bistro a "special occasion restaurant". Personally, I think you should choose this anytime you think you deserve some civility, style and class any night of the week. Lunch is terrific too! I give them my highest recommendations and my culinary respect. Go.

Cedar Hill's 5 Star restaurant
by Schmiedeknecht
on August 6, 2011
If you want to eat at a 5 Star restaurant in Cedar Hill and want a friendly atmosphere Eclair Bistro is the place to go. All the food is made from scratch! Nothing tastes like it came out of a can and heated up. My wife and I just had our anniversary dinner there and it was fabulous. You can bring your own wine and make it a special evening. I had the steak salad and my wife had the stuffed chicken breast. They were both excellent. The deserts and coffee are top notch, too. If you haven't tried this place you definitely should. The only criticism is that it isn't open more.

The Best Cedar Hill Has to Offer

After one visit, this quickly became our favorite restaurant in Cedar Hill. There just isn't anything like it in town. The bistro atmosphere is so relaxing. The food is amazing and the service is extremely friendly. We always enjoy visiting with the owner on our visits.

The hot brown sandwich at lunch is fantastic. Crab cakes are also wonderful. I love dessert, and this place doesn't disappoint. Strawberry shortcake is great, and the bread pudding is in a class by itself - pineapple instead of raisins and a meringue topping.

I also like the fact that they allow you to bring a bottle of wine and don't charge a corkage fee.

I hope Cedar Hill will support this restaurant so it stays with us for a long, long time!

wow... we'll be back, and back

Just ate at Eclair Bistro for the first time. I thought it would be good, but I wasn't prepared for *HOW GOOD*.

I had the Beef Kabobs which were tender and flavorful even though it was served w/o any sauce. It didn't need any. The rice was also fantastic.

My wife had the stuffed chicken breast, which was also out of this world. Tender, juicy... she usually takes half home, but not tonight! She finished it all.

We ended the meal with the white chocolate cheesecake, which was also delicious, but not as shockingly delicious as the main courses.

We'll be back.... often.

Oh my goodness...this restaurant is my all-time favorite! I have favorite restaurant that I miss in the 2 other states I have lived in and I hope I never have to move from TX because it would be a tragedy to not have E'Clairs access! Their Shrimp is amazing! Let me tell you though, if you like bread pudding...you owe it to yourself to have E'Clairs version! OMG-it is to die for! Heavenly! I can't say enough! I am so proud to have E'Clairs in my area so when company comes in town I have a place to take them that I am sooo proud of!

Quaint Little Bistro

A small, intimate, culinary delight awaits you at Eclair Bistro. The ambiance provided a perfectly pleasant dining experience. The lunch menu offers a delectable variety of homemade creations of soups, salads, and sandwiches, freshly prepared and served beautifully. Splendid bistro to enjoy a ladies luncheon. Return visit on a Friday evening with guests and a fine bottle of wine in tow to share this charming eatery. The chef's specials were an absolutely delicious awakening to the palate. Just what this area needs. Introducing this new find to all my friends. A must do....Bon Appetit

Best in Cedar Hill by far
by shenova
on January 26, 2011
We recently moved to Cedar Hill and have been visiting a number of the local establishments. This was hands down the best food that we have had in the area! The oyster and artichoke soup was astonishing...it was chock full of bite-sized artichoke and you could clearly taste the oyster. The baked potato with smoked salmon was an extra-large potato with a house-smoked small salmon steak and served with sour cream and chives. The salmon was too salty but it seasoned the potato perfectly when eaten together. The house salad was an average-but-good pile of field greens adorned only with grape tomatoes. The meatball sandwich was a very good freshly made meatball with homemade marinara on a just-right crusty roll.

This place rates with some of the best small bistros in Dallas and I hope it gets the recognition that it deserves.
